The Central New York Playhouse is embracing the political season with their upcoming show, Frost/Nixon.
The political drama received critical acclaim when it premiered on the West End and on Broadway. The play is based on the televised interview between British talk show host David Frost and former President Nixon who was trying to repair his reputation post-Watergate.
Actor Tom Minion who plays the role of President Nixon and Actor Jeremiah Thompson who plays the role of David Frost said it is difficult as an actor to stay true to the two men.
Thompson said the play is very innovative in the way it is staged. The show incorporates special multimedia where the actors are filmed live on stage then are projected back onto the set to mimic televisions. This gives the audience two stages of reality. One that is happening on stage with the live interview, and the other is the perspective that the TV audience viewed through the lens of the camera.
The show is also relevant to today’s politics and how media plays a role and creates its own reality.
CNY Playhouse’s Frost/Nixon will hold six performances from November 10th to the 18th. Most performances will take place at 8PM with one matinee on November 12th. All showings will take place at CNY Playhouse in Shoppingtown Mall. Tickets range between $17 and $20.
