Syracuse Stage is continuing their season with the classic “Wizard of Oz”, but this adaptation may have you saying “Toto, I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

Syracuse Stage and the Syracuse University Department of Drama teamed up with New York’s 2 Ring Circus to create a new take on “The Wizard of Oz.” The stage adaptation contains acrobatics as well as songs from the Oscar winning film score, including “Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard (Follow the Yellow Brick Road).”

The adaptation is the classic tale with a circus twist and the actors say that the songs, characters and words that everyone knows and loves remain the same but the Oz scenes take on a new look.

Actor Brian Michael Hoffman plays the Cowardly Lion and he along with actress  Lani Corson are both SU Drama alums. They both returns to the stage and to SU to work with other actors, students and children in this family friendly production.

Syracuse Stage’s “the Wizard of Oz” opens Wednesday, November 29th, and runs through January 7th. Tickets are available online, by phone or in person at the box office. For tickets and more information, visit syracusestage.org or call (315) 443-3275.
