“The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is about to return to the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse stage for the first time in over 30 years.
The show is described as a funny, sexy, high energy song and dance comedy about the world’s oldest profession that will laugh you right out of your seat. It’s the latest production put on by the Festival in a strong lineup of musical theater productions.
Set in the 1970s in the ficitional town of Gilber Texas, the musical follows the story of Miss Mona and her girls who come under fire from the religious televangelist Melvin P. Thorpe. The musical is based on the true story of a legendary Texas brothel and highlights what is known as one of the oldest and most controversial professions.
“The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” opens at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival Wednesday, August 2 and runs through August 23. Shows are held at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse at Emerson Park in Auburn.
