Auburn Players Community Theatre’s next production is a classic musical that pokes fun at corporate America — How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
Actress Jessica Alexander plays the role of “Hedy LaRue” in the show, and says “It’s about this standard ordinary guy who is a window washer and suddenly he finds this book about how to succeed in business without really trying, and so it teaches him all the different ways he can go up the corporate ladder, and along those he meets all these crazy characters.”
This production by Auburn Players Community Theatre marks the first time the show has been produced by a community group in the Auburn area in over 20 years.
“I’ve seen this musical several times on Broadway” says actor Jim Magnarelli, who plays the role of J.B. Bigley. “This is just a fun show. Every line, I don’t think there’s a serious line or song and the music, it’s snappy. Frankie Loesser wrote it, who did Guys and Dolls. It’s really an outstanding musical.”
Performances are September 19-21 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 22nd at 2pm. They are staged at the Irene Bisgrove Theater on the Cayuga Community College campus in Auburn.
Alexander adds, “It’s really fun, it’s great for the entire family, and it’s a whole wonderful family show.”
