The City of Syracuse edition of Monopoly has hit store shelves just in time for the holiday gift giving season. The Cooley Group, inc. has secured rights from Hasbro to create this special game with proceeds benefiting the Food Bank of Central New York.
The properties, tokens and cards are filled with custom Syracuse-isms. Players can choose to be Otto the Orange, a Beak and Skiff apple, Dunkin Donut’s mascot Sprinkle, a Syracuse Nationals hot rod and the signature Monopoly top hat. As players advance along the board visit Central New York staples like Varsity Pizza, Dinosaur BBQ, Brooklyn Pickle, Hotel Syracuse and more! Instead of landing on chance or community chest, pick up a Wegmans or NYS Fair card and find more references to events like Lights On The Lake or Syracuse University’s 2003 NCAA Basketball Championship.
“There are so many partners that we have that are on this board throughout the year and, as you know, for us to distribute millions of pounds of food every year we need so many partners,” said Lynn Hy, the Food Bank of CNY’s chief development officer.
There are a limited number of boards available for sale with over 50% already sold! Games are for sale at local area Wegmans, Coleman’s Irish Pub, Green Hills Farms, The MOST and Hotel Syracuse. You can also order online at SyracuseMonopoly.com. Games retail for $49.99.
