The Onondaga County Agricultural Council is hosting their fifth annual “On Farm Fest” festival Saturday, September 18.
The outdoor event will feature nine local farms across Onondaga County and Cornell Cooperative Extension Agricultural Specialist Jenny Smith says the event is a great opportunity for people in the community to come out and learn about livestock, raising crops and other parts of agriculture.
Gridley Farms Owner Kienan Gridley says that they’re excited for the weekend’s events. “We’ve got a bunch of free activities planned at our farm,” he says. “People can watch the grass-fed cows graze and learn about how they’re raised. Chickens, horses and other farm animals will be on display for people to interact with as well.”
Grass-fed beef, wood-crafts, artwork and other farm products will be available for purchase and each farm will host their own daily activities. On Farm Fest is happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 18th. For more information, and to see a full list of participating farms, visit OnondagaGrown.com/OnFarmFest.
