Italy is coming to downtown Syracuse by way of La Festa Italiana. In it’s 21st year the festival that celebrates Italian heritage brings authentic food, live music, dancing and more to Columbus Circle in front of City Hall.
History is a big part of the festival too. On Friday at 5:30pm, the Onondaga Historical Association will give a presentation on the Italian immigration in Central New York and its influence on food. On Saturday, learn how to make pasta from scratch and wash it down with home made limoncello. Finally, listen to a presentation on Italy on Sunday.
President of La Festa Italiana, Ginnie Lostumbo said it takes over 250 volunteers to run events at the festival like the bocce tournament, children’s tent and the one handed meatball contest.
You can be a part of the fun at La Festa Italiana happening Friday and Saturday, September 13th and 14th from 11am to 11pm and on Sunday, September 15th from 12pm to 7pm in Columbus Circle at Montgomery and Washington streets in front of city hall.
