Who said having the blues is a bad thing? Definitely not Clinton Square, as it’s getting ready to host the NYS Blues Festival of 2019.
“A great, celebratory sort of music” is to be expected, said festival director Eric McElveen, and “a good education of where this music comes from.”
All in all, says McElveen, “it’s gonna be a dance party downtown.” Fresh new bands right out of New Orleans will play and will surely resonate with the younger crowd and really with whoever is down to party, he added.
‘Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul’ will play Saturday at 9pm as this year’s headliner. Other bands include ‘Dumpstaphunk’ (Thursday), ‘Tommy Castro & the Painkillers’ (Friday), and more.
Admission is free for the festival itself which runs from Thursday June 27 to Saturday June 29, in Clinton Square. To learn more visit NYSBluesFest.com.
