If you’re looking to start a new career, Onondaga Community College can help.
The Workforce Development program offered through OCC is helping the greater Syracuse area with just that. The program offers anyone interested in pursuing a career in a trade, the opportunity to work alongside professionals in the field. The program helps with technical skills and broadens soft skills for any workplace setting. The program trains students for jobs that are specifically needed in Syracuse.
Associate Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development’s Mike Metzgar says “The program is designed to be streamlined, come in, leave with a job”
The program does not end until the person enrolled gets a job, he adds. Workforce development is with them every step of the way too.
Some examples of careers available are Medical Assistant, Medical Billing, Manufacturing, Phlebotomist, Line Cook, and Warehouse Operator.
OCC will host two information sessions ahead of their classes beginning at the end of the month. For those interested in a career as a medical assistant, an informational meeting is planned for January 16 at 2pm in Mulroy Hall, located on campus.
A medical billing informational session will take place on January 17 at 2pm in Mulroy Hall as well.
Mulroy Hall is located at 4926 Onondaga Road in Syracuse.
