The annual Polish Festival returns to Central New York for another year. With polish dishes, bands, awards, and much more, the festival will showcase culture in both entertaining and delicious ways.
Eva’s European Sweets Restaurant will offer several different Polish dishes including savory and flavorful foods like sauerkraut, homemade pierogies, and golumpki.
A staple of Polish food that can be found at Polish Fest is bigos stew, which is also known as a “Hunter’s Pie” made with mushrooms, ham, bacon, kielbasa, and sauerkraut.
Awards and scholarships will also be given out at the festival such as the Pole of The Year Award, this year to be awarded to Nancy Cummings. The Miss Polonia Contest will also take place, along with over $10,000 worth of scholarships to be awarded.
In addition to these attractions, there will be a medieval battle reenactment of the Battle of Grunwald between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Teutonic Knights. This performance called “Dogs of War” courtesy of the Syracuse Polish Home will be complete with actors in medieval-style armor for the event.
The 65th Annual Polish Festival will run from Friday, June 20th through Sunday June 23rd in Clinton Square, and to learn more about events and hours visit http://polishscholarship.org/.
