The Annual St. Patrick’s Parade gets underway on March 11 at noon.
This year the Grand Marshal is Mayor Stephanie Miner, and the Gael of the year is Michele Jordan.
Miner has deep Irish roots in Syracuse. She said she is thankful for the chance to honor her Irish ancestors who came to Syracuse as immigrants. Mayor Miner joined many others downtown today for the painting of the green stripe down S. Salina St.
Jordan was picked as Gael of the year as an honor to her dedication to giving back to the community. She is the executive director of the Interreligious Food Consortium and has made it her mission to give back to the Syracuse community through her work with food pantries and meal sites around Onondaga County.
The St. Patrick’s Parade will air live NewsChannel 9 from noon to 3PM.
