Botulinum toxin – better known as Botox – is the most common cosmetic procedure in the United States with over 7 million treatments in 2018.

“There’s four Botulinum toxin, Botox being the most popular” says Director of Medical Aesthetics Ryan McCarthy. “What they do is they block the signal from the nerve to the muscle. People can expect the results with the wrinkle reduction to last anywhere from three to four months.”

Botox was first used for non-cosmetic purposes in 1977 and was approved in 2002 for cosmetic use.

Treatments only take about five minutes, following a consultation process that’s about a half-hour long. Director of Wellness Medicine Jennifer Baldwin says that the consultation focuses on what the client wants to see happen from the treatment.

“It is really minimally uncomfortable, they’re little tiny needles and they’re really sharp and we’re really skilled and it’s quick,” she says.
