For nine years, a local hair salon has been doing something special in October to help make strides for the fight against breast cancer.
Salon Bellezza was founded in 2011 by Annette Knapp, and has been running this fundraiser every year to pay loving respects to Rose Procopio, the owner’s mother who passed away from Breast Cancer.
“I lost my mother 28 years ago and my sister is a 6-year survivor,” says Knapp. “So I feel we are making strides through the money we raise for research.”
Each October, Knapp’s salon takes the time to help The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Over the years, this salon has raised almost $50,000 for the cause.
“We wouldn’t be able to continue research and helping local patients without amazing volunteers like Annette,” says Rebecca Flint, a representative from the American Cancer Society. “The fact she’s done this for nine years shows she clearly has a passion for it.”
