For the past 11 years, “A Cappella for the Fellas” has been bringing together local singing groups to raise money for charity. McMahon Ryan Outreach Specialist Derek Tefft and NoXCuse member Dr. John Finkenstadt joined us with details on what to expect this weekend.
This year proceeds will go to the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center. With April being national child abuse prevention month, the goal is try to start the conversation about child abuse, an issue that is often silenced. Their mission is to end child abuse and neglect through prevention, education and intervention. ‘A Cappella for the Fellas” will help them educate kids and adults in the community.
The event will feature performances from NoXCuse, which is now a mixed a cappella group. This year they’ve added 3 women to change their sound. Also performing is local gospel group, 5 To Life, a barber shop group Upstate blend, and a collegiate group, The Binghamton Crosbys.
You can help McMahon Ryan and NoXCuse end child abuse by attending “A Cappella for the Fellas.” The event kicks off 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 15th at Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University. Tickets are $15 and $10 for students. For more information, call (315) 478-9710.
