Award-Winning trombonist Melissa Gardiner has released a new album called “Empowered”, which she is proud of because it is a collaboration of women in jazz.
According to Gardiner, it is a very niche thing to be a woman in jazz, and she feels very fortunate to have worked with musicians such as saxophonist Tia Fuller on the album. Fuller has worked with Beyonce and won a Grammy.
“My album tells a story of being a woman in a male-dominated field, from my time in New York City, having just graduated from Julliard, to Syracuse and reinventing myself here,” said Gardiner speaking of “Empowered”.

All proceeds from this event will go towards a charity for underprivileged children to fund musical instruments and lessons to further their musical careers.
