Community Action Partnership’s Road Rally in Madison County

Community

The Community Action Partnership of Madison County invites you to rally with them to support the work that they do within the Central New York.

The volunteer organization’s road rally returns for the second year in a row allowing participants to explore the landscape of Madison County and give back too, Executive Director Antara Mitra said.

“It’s a real fun event. It’s a one hour drive through the rolling scenic country side of Madison County in search of more than 20 cryptic clues along the way,” she added. The clues are a fun way for riders to explore what Madison County has to offer.

Board Member Paula Welsh says it’s also a perfect time for residents in Madison County and beyond to learn more about the work of CAP.

“We’re specifically focused on giving people hope, people who may need a little bit of help. We are looking for opportunities for our neighbors to better their situation.” Paula added.

CAP was established in 1983 and has been providing information, assistance and support to families within the county since then. CAP works closely with a large number of community partners such as local churches, schools and community foundations both locally, and on the state and federal level too.

In 2017, they were able to help more than 100 families find affordable housing, and another 100 families find transportation, Antara said. Their work goes beyond families too. More than 300 infants, children and youth were helped that same year by way of mentoring and early childhood programs.

“We really try to figure out what are the needs in the community and try to address them and build that hope for the future,” Antara said. “…not just for today but how you can help yourself for the rest of your life.”

The Madison County Road Rally is taking place on Saturday, May 18 on New Market Drive in Cantastota. Registration is $25 per vehicle and starts at 10am. The rally begins at 10:30 with lunch to follow at 11:30. Participants will receive lunch for two, a souvenir bag and raffle tickets. Extra lunch tickets can also be purchased for $5.
