A taste of the south returns to Central New York for the 12th Annual Crawfish Festival.
The event which is a fundraiser for Operation Northern Country is bringing in shrimp this year direct from Louisiana. Shrimper Charles Robins knows all too well what good seafood tastes like. “You’re getting Mother Nature’s Perfection,” he said.
Norm Andrezejewski helps to coordinate the annual event that brings more than 50 different vendors to Armory Square. Crawfish will also be available as well as plenty of southern food to taste, Andrezejewski said.
The event helps to promote and fund the work of Operation Northern Comfort, a one hundred percent volunteer organization. Operation Northern Comfort volunteers travel to disaster areas in the south to help with cleanup and to rebuild/ They have repaired more than 350 homes and built five houses to date, Norm added.
They also support other CNY charitable organizations including In My Father’s Kitchen, Tiny Homes For Good, Clear Path For Veterans, ARISE, and Catholic Charities.
The 2019 Crawfish Festival runs from 11am to 7pm on Saturday, May 4th in Clinton Square. Admission is free and there is plenty of food and drink available for purchase. To learn more visit OperationNC.org.
