Founder’s Day Of Caring Takes Place at ARISE at the Farm

Volunteers from NewsChannel 9 gathered to support ARISE at the farm by planting vegetables on the 40th anniversary of the group that provides accessible programs, workshops and animal therapy to disabled young people.

ARISE is an independent living center that supports people of all abilities, and for 20+ years, the 77-acre horse farm formerly known as the Marshall Farm has been a center of connection and therapeutic care for disabled members of the community.

The farm in Chittenango, NY was gifted to ARISE by Doc Marshall about 21 years. “Without this wonder gift,” said Chief Development Officer, Betty DeFazio “we would not be able to do the kind of work we are with kids who have disabilities.”

Fresh produce is also grown at the farm that over 20 volunteers helped to stage and plant.

Although it is known for its farm and accessible play area in Chittenango, ARISE is not just a local presence, with offices in Syracuse, Oswego, Auburn and Oneida.
