Healthy Choices To Warm Out While It’s Cold Outside


The long cold winter has us craving warm and hearty meals but those meals don’t have to be heavy. Nutritionist and owner of Kelly’s Choice, Kelly Springer, has two options that are convenient and nutritious comfort foods.

A warm bowl of soup serves as a great meal during the cold months. To get more nutrition from the meal, she suggests using Bonafide Provisions bone broth. It’s found in the freezer sections at Wegmans and Walmart. Bone broth is full of nutrients and collagen that are good for your skin, hair, nails, joints and gut health. Because it’s frozen, the nutrients are locked in. All you need to do is defrost and heat it up. There’s a variety of ways to use bone broth. You can drink it, use it in your soup recipe, or as a liquid for any other recipe, to add a little more flavor to the dish.

The heat from the spices in Chi-Chi’s Salsa will also warm you. You can use it on other recipes too, chicken or a salad. You can even add it to your eggs in the morning! Adding the salsa to a dish is a great way to add additional vegetable. “It’s an easy and convenient way to get good nutrition,” says Springer.
