For the first time ever, more than 30 restaurants will team up to offer special discount menus in the spirit of restaurant week in Oswego County.
The inaugural event kicks off on Sunday, March 10 with 33 different restaurants participatng and Katie Toomey of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce says people are really looking forward to supporting local businesses.
“The buzz has been overwhelming. The program has been designed to drive people out of their homes and into restaurants at a really crummy, snowy time of the year,” Katie said. “We want to support our small businesses and we thought this was a great way to do it.”
When Katie approached Eagle Beverage Company’s Dan Dorsey, Jr. with the idea, he jumped at the chance. “It’s an event that supports our customers that support us all year long,” Dan said.
Dorsey is one of the many local business owners that will benefit from the restaurant week. But Katie says that visiting an Oswego restaurant goes beyond supporting the local economy.
“Not only are you supporting local businesses, but nine times out of 10 you’re supporting your friends or relatives or buddies that own small business in our community,” Toomey said. “This is a direct response to meeting their needs and helping them out this year.”
Starting on March 10, restaurant-goers will be able to eat a two-course lunch for just $12, and a three-course dinner for $25. For more information, visit Oswegofultonchamber.com
