If you’ve ever wanted of playing in the Carrier Dome, now is your chance to make that dream come true! The 10th annual Turn-Around Jumpers Tournament is happening Saturday, June 8th.
“It’s going to be the biggest and best yet. We’re excited. It’s the second year in the Carrier Dome,” said the Salvation Army’s Gina Lazara. “There will be tons of new faces this year, but we need more teams.”
The tournament is a 3-on-3, double elimination tournament for players of all ages. There are several divisions including boys, girls, men, women and corporate. Teams will need four players, one for substitutions.
M&T Bank is back for another year of competing for top prize. “Well, we didn’t win the championship…or the second round…or the first round,” said Ramon Dunlop. “It was a great experience. The open space, the feeling of being on the same court as the college players…altogether it got us primed for our second year because once you get in it you’re like, ‘ok we have to represent for year two now!’”.
“We have a new lineup this year. Hopefully we’re not facing the Salvation Army,” jokes Robert Slaughter for M&T Bank. They are keeping their strategy quiet to surprise their opponents. Slaughter says they’ve recruited a few new players including an M&T employee from the
If you’re not interested in playing, the event is free to attend. It’s a great time to see former players around and on the court. Friends and family are encouraged to come and support players.
