Rescue Mission’s Annual Ride for the Rescue

Community

The Rescue Mission’s Ride and Run for the Rescue is less than two weeks away. The annual event that is set for June 22 at Long Branch Park offers something for everyone, organizers say.

This event, now in its fourteenth year, offers the community a chance to contribute to the Rescue Mission’s cause as well as start a dialogue within families about homelessness, Rescue Mission CEO Dan Sieburg said. “You can come out with your family, do the ride and run … but then have those conversations about what is homelessness and how do people end up this way,” he adds.

Starbucks and Bagelicious are providing breakfast for the event, allowing athletes to fuel up before heading off. Lunch will also greet the participants after they cross the finish line.

Proceeds from Ride and Run for the Rescue go toward providing three meals a day to Syracuse’s homeless population and low-income community members throughout the summer months. And while the Rescue Missions servers those who need it most, every day during the year, the summer months can be some of the most needy, with children out of school and families in need of more food.
