The Red Cross Missing Types Campaign

The American Red Cross is launching their campaign called “Missing Types: Blood Campaign” to encourage people to donate more blood.

In America 3 out of every 100 people donate blood, yet every two seconds someone needs it.

The campaign includes social media pages, signs, websites, and brands missing the letters A,B, and O, known as the three main blood groups. This emphasizes the importance of the blood donors to the patients that need them.

“Without blood types O, A, and B, we can’t really help anybody.” said Katie Stepanian, account manager for Red Cross Syracuse.

Patients that benefit from blood donors include cancer patients, accident victims, new moms, surgical patients, and many more rely on these blood types.

“Our hope of this “Missing Types” campaign is to raise the awareness of people, and to get people out donating.”  said Stepanian.

Some national partners involved in the campaign include Amazon, Google, and Suburban Propane. Along with that are local partners like Glazed and Confused and TCG Player who is hosting a blood drive for their employees on Friday, June 14th. Both companies altered their logo tell help raise awareness.

Setting up blood drives for your company can also be a simple task. It just involves visiting the website and submitting a request or contacting them directly.

A huge partner of the Missing Types campaign is “New Kids On The Block”, a boy band from Dorchester, Massachusetts. Any donors that come out today or the end of June will be entered to win a trip of two for their final show and a meet and great in Florida.
