Summer is a great time for all kids to recharge and make memories at camp! The Muscular Dystrophy Association offers kids the same chance to make new friends and have fun at their summer camp in Rush, NY but need volunteers.
MDA Summer Camp Director Sarah Fewkes said the camp runs off volulnteers, “We require a full team of medical professionals licensed in the state of New York and our one to one camp counselors. Every camper gets one counselor to work with them the entire week to make sure that they’re taken care of.”
To volunteer you must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check. All medical staff volunteers must be licensed in New York State.
Camp is available to kids who have been diagnosed with a type of neuromuscular disease covered by MDA’s program, including over 43 diseases. All camp activities are full accesible including swimming, zip-lining, horseback riding.
The MDA accepts 70 campers each summer, and spots fill up fast. For more information on camper or volunteer registration, visit mda.org
