Canalway Challenge raising awareness for those with disabilities

Local News

(WSYR-TV) — It’s a 360 mile-long journey all along the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany but for John Robinson, who was born without full arms and legs, it’s the seventh time embarking to raise awareness for people with disabilities.

Robinson and his team set out on July using handcycles and inviting others to join them for the first mile as part of the Canalway Challenge.

The group made the 51-mile ride from Camillus Erie Canal Park to the Durhamville Fire Department on Saturday.

Robinson uses his story to inspire others to overcome their obstacles and is hoping more people will take the challenge this year and help pave the way for people with disabilities.
