Two people are dead after a head-on collision in Tompkins County Tuesday evening.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling south on Trumansburg Road in the town of Ulysses when it swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevrolet.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene around 6:18 p.m.

Both people in the PT Cruiser were killed, and the driver of the Chevrolet was taken to a nearby trauma center.

The Sheriff’s Office did not indicate how severe the Chevrolet driver’s injuries were.

They are still trying to determine what caused the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the identities of those killed.

They say the identities will be released once the family has been notified.
