The European Union announced it will require short-time visas for Americans visiting Europe beginning in 2021.
According to the European Union, in order to obtain a visa, U.S. citizens will have to have a valid passport, a credit card or debit card, and an email account.
“Similar to other countries and regions in the world, Europe has recently decided to improve their security level to avoid any further problems with illegal migration and terrorism.”
The visa will be valid for three years and once approved, Americans will be able to travel to European countries as many times as necessary.
U.S. citizens will not need a visa to visit the United Kingdom.
ETIAS was first approved in 2016 by the European Commission and then by the European Parliament in 2018.
