OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Oswego City Police say the death of a woman found in Lake Ontario on Tuesday does not appear to be suspicious.

Deputy Chief Zachary Misztal says “Preliminary investigations do not lead us to believe there was any suspicious activity, but with the conditions that we had, we are following all of the necessary steps to confirm this.”

Police are working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office to determine a cause of death.

Police were called to the lake near Mercer Street, between East 9th Street and East 10th Street, just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.
