DA anticipates elevated charges after Oswego assault victim’s death

The Oswego County District Attorney’s office expect an assault suspect to face enhanced charges after the victim died.

The DA’s office confirmed on Monday morning that the victim’s death stemmed from an assault that led to the arrest of Jason Golas.

Oswego Police have identified the victim as 55-year-old Deirdre M. Rogers of 956 Middle Rd. Lot 8A Oswego.

Police say the victim’s body has been taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Golas, who is listed as “homeless” on the Oswego City Police blotter, is jailed without bail.

The DA declined to offer specifics about the victim, citing the investigation into the incident.

According to the police blotter, Golas was arrested on Oct. 1 and charged with second-degree assault.
