(WSYR-TV) — Former Syracuse QB Eric Dungey’s future in the NFL was a complicated question after going undrafted. Even after signing with the New York Giants, his future remains uncertain.
The New York Giants opened their rookie minicamp Friday, May 3, and the former Syracuse standout is listed as not only a quarterback but also a tight end — a position Dungey has never played.
The New Orleans Saints use Taysom Hill at various positions on the field, and he’s about the same size as Dungey.
Giants Head Coach Pat Shurmur said the transition might not be as difficult for Dungey as some would think:
“I think we wanted to bring him in. Look at him as a quarterback. Which he played. And then just see how this grows. I think the one good thing about when you train a player as a quarterback. They learn about what everybody else is doing. And so then the details of the other positions. They just need to get on the field. Heck, this is day one he’s only been out there for two hours. So we’ll just see how this grows.”
