A 14-year-old Ithaca High School freshman has only been singing for three years, but she has had a knack for it ever since she was a child.
“My mom went to the doctor and she said ‘what’s she doing? Is there something wrong with her?’ And he said ‘she likes to hear her voice. She’s trying to sing,’” Jojo Strogatz said.
Jojo didn’t love singing until she discovered jazz— she would watch old movies and the songs would get stuck in her head.
“These jazz songs, they just, they move you, they make you feel something,” Jojo said.
Jojo is our most recent Extraordinary Talent of the Week. Be sure to catch Jojo and other talented young artists at Carrie Lazarus’ Extraordinary Live show on Nov. 12 at the Crouse Hinds Theater.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are free and available at the door.
