Fire crews and police responded to a fire at Weitsman Recycling in Solvay on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Onondaga County emergency dispatch site, the fire on Bridge Street between Matthews Avenue and State Fair Boulevard was reported shortly before 5 p.m.
Geddes Police told NewsChannel 9 that the fire was under control around 5:30 p.m.
An employee at the facility suffered minor burns.
Officials told NewsChannel 9 that three cars caught fire during the incident.
Shortly after the fire began, black smoke could be seen billowing up over the trees from the other side of Onondaga Lake.
25 firefighters responded to the scene, including personnel from Liverpool, Taunton, and Solvay.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
