The LaFayette schools board of education has named the district’s new superintendent.
Jeremy Belfield – who currently serves as the assistant superintendent for management services in the Mexico School District – will take over LaFayette’s top post on July 1.
In addition to administrative duties, Belfield has taught fifth grade and mathematics.
He has also worked as director of personnel and director of pupil services.
In a press release sent out on Tuesday, the board wrote:
Mr. Belfield’s interview, exemplary teaching and administrative experience, excellent recommendations and the respect of his colleagues and community impressed board members and inspired their confidence.
Belfield is replacing Superintendent Laura Lavine, who is retiring on June 30.
Lavine is running for mayor of Syracuse.
