Le Moyne College is hosting the second CNY STEM Camp toexpose young women to science and technology, engineering and math, in interesting and fun ways.
It’s all designed to spark interest in careers that have historically been dominated by men.
“It’s a change where they’re not feeling like ‘I can’t do it.’ What they want is the opportunities, and this camp is giving them opportunities,” said camp director Meriel Stokoe.
Campers will build drones and solder circuit boards during the week, and take a field trip to air traffic control at the airport.
Thirty students from at least a dozen school districts have signed up for the camp, which is funded by a grant from AT&T.
