LEICESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — One person is dead after a car went into a building and a fire broke out in Leicester on Tuesday.
Officials say the car crashed into a building and both the car and building caught fire. One person was trapped inside of the car. Bystanders worked to help get the person out, but the extreme flames and falling debris eventually pushed them out.
Multiple fire departments responded to help extinguish the fire.
An investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the driver failed to negotiate a sharp turn in the roadway and struck the building. After the fire was extinguished the driver was confirmed to be deceased. The driver was the only occupant in the car.
Dental records were used to identify the driver as 26-year-old Joshua L. Truax of Leicester.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
