A 16-year-old was shot and killed on Syracuse’s North Side Monday night.

Police were called to the 100 block of John Street for reports of a shooting around 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found 16-year-old Antonio Gullotto who had been shot in the upper part of his body.

Gullotto was pronounced dead at the scene.

The City of Syracuse issued the following statement:

SCSD Superintendent Jaime Alicea issued the following statement:

“I am saddened and upset that we have lost another child to a senseless act of violence.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Antonio’s family and all who were close to him.  It is time for our community to come together and take action. The school district has been at the table and will continue to be as we work together to come up with strategies and support for our students, staff and families in our community before we lose another child.”

The suspect is an unknown race male who was wearing dark clothing.

We are told the investigation is in its early stages and there is minimal information at this time.
