Two Central New Yorkers spent their morning being commemorated for their service and contributions to the history of Onondaga County.
The Onondaga Historical Association presented medals to its own curator Dennis Connors and Sean Kirst, journalist and author. Both award recipients received standing ovations.
When asked about their reaction to being selected, both men say they’re honored their work made such an impact.
“To be able to be this public historian and teach history, not just in a class, but to the whole community is so rewarding,” Connors said.
“If people think what I did was important, it’s because they’re important and where they live is important,” Kirst said.
The OHA medal has been awarded since 1945 and is a historic medallion commemorating the county’s 1894 centennial.
