MATTYDALE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies say three men are under arrest and facing drug and weapons charges after taking off from deputies following a shots fired call in Mattydale early Saturday morning.
Just after 2:00 a.m. deputies responded to a 911 call of gunshots being fired in the parking lot of Club 11, located at 1799 Brewerton Road in Mattydale.
According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies in the area heard the gunshots and saw a Dodge SUV leave the club’s parking lot at a high rate of speed.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle and his two passengers failed to pull over and proceeded southbound on Brewerton Road.
While fleeing, the suspect’s vehicle struck a sheriff’s patrol vehicle. They then threw objects out the window, which were later recovered by deputies and determined to be a loaded handgun and heroin.
The suspect’s vehicle broke down on Kirkpatrick Street where the suspects took off on foot but were arrested a short distance away.
The driver of the Dodge, 18-year-old Shamar Everson of Caton Drive DeWitt, and passengers 23-year-old Draquan McDonald of Cedar Post Road Liverpool, and 19-year-old Jeffrey Dowdell of Butternut Street, Syracuse were all charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd and 7th degree.
Everson was also issued several traffic tickets for reckless driving, speeding, passing red traffic light signals, failing to stop for stop signs, failing to keep right and leaving the scene of an auto accident.
All three were taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center and arraigned.
The investigation is ongoing.
