Three dogs in Oswego County have been exposed to a rabid raccoon, according to the health department.

The dogs had current rabies vaccinations and were given rabies booster shots as a precaution.

The incident occurred near County Route 22, south of Orwell on Aug. 30.

The Oswego County Health Department will hold its next rabies clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the County Highway Garage, 957 Centerville Road, Pulaski.

The last rabies clinic of 2018 will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the County Highway Garage in Scriba.

The vaccine is also available from a veterinarian.

The health department says the incident is a reminder to all pet owners to vaccinate your animals– and keep them up to date on their shots.
