UNITED STATES (WSYR-TV) — A total of $400 million in federal money will soon be making its way into communities dealing with the opioid epidemic. It’s part of a billion-dollar federal investment to fight opioid addiction.
Each of the grants is going to be used to hire professionals, like counselors, social workers, nurses and licensed mental health providers. The grant money will pay to make drug abuse treatment a part of traditional healthcare facilities. It will also provide more support in rural areas and will pay to expand the behavioral health workforce.
