Tuesday night snowfall

Tonight into Wednesday another storm will head our way from the south.

This one has a little more mild air with it, so snow should mix with rain in lower elevations.  The amount of moisture is less with this storm, so only some minor accumulation is likely.

This means that the majority of the very light snowfall happens early Tuesday night, and the impact on the Wednesday morning commute will be minimal as the precipitation is winding down. It will help that temperatures will be above freezing.

Much of Wednesday ends up dry. We think there will also be some sun.

Then the cold…

Arctic cold front is scheduled to arrive Thursday.  It will be accompanied by snow and falling temperatures later Thursday.

High temperatures in the 20s close to 30 are forecast for all of CNY Friday and Saturday.

It looks like the areas in line for the most significant snowfall Thursday night and Friday will be east of Lake Ontario.  The Tug Hill Plateau seems to be most favored. Lake effect snow warnings are in effect for Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties from 6 am Thursday through 6 am Saturday.

South of that area, including Wayne, northern Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties are under a Lake Effect Snow Watch.
