SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A major step today in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Central New York. ACR Health is now offering three-point testing, which will collect samples from different places on the body that might carry STDs.
Health experts say its throat and rectal swab, which is self-administered, will help reduce the risk of new HIV infections
“Individuals with STDs are more susceptible for contracting HIV, so this will help individuals know their health status and stay protected,” said John Arcaro ACR Health’s Director of Prevention and Community Initiatives.
The test if free through ACR Health.
Today’s announcement kicks off Paint the Town Red, a weeklong health and AIDS awareness campaign leading up to the 27th AIDS Walk and Run at Beaver Lake on Sunday.
