A group of students plans to protest Cornell University’s decision to name an ice cream flavor after former Vice President Joe Biden, who is the school’s keynote address speaker.
The group, peta2, plans to gather by the University’s Dairy Bar at 411 Tower Road around noon on Friday.
The group says they will be holding signs proclaiming “Cows Scream for Ice Cream,” and passing out more than 100 dairy-free ice cream bars in response to the University’s decision.
“Cornell students are an innovative, forward-thinking lot, which explains why they can’t get behind such an udderly cruel and obsolete way of honoring the former vice president. peta2 is working with these compassionate students to remind everyone that choosing delicious dairy-free ice cream helps mother cows and their babies, who endure a lifetime of abuse in the dairy industry,” said PETA Director of International Youth Outreach Ryan Huling in a written release.
