Authorities continue their search for a missing fisherman on Lake Ontario.

Just after 7:00 Saturday night, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a missing fisherman at Sunset Bay Park in the Town of Scriba.

Deputies learned that three men had been fishing on Lake Ontario when their boat began taking on water. Two passengers jumped from the boat, but 56 year-old Mark Deiter was still on it when it went completely underwater.

The two passengers that jumped off the boat used floatation devices and a cooler to float. They were rescued by other fisherman around 7:00pm.

Deiter has not been seen since his boat sank Saturday night.

A search for Deiter began immediately but was suspended around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. It started up again several hours later at 9:00 Sunday morning.

Multiple agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard, and Air One are still searching for Deiter.
