Broome County is recognizing Animal Adventure for bringing publicity and attention to our local community.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar presented a proclamation to Animal Adventure Owner Jordan Patch designating the rest of April as “The Month of April.”

April the Giraffe gave birth to a healthy male giraffe-calf on Saturday, while 1.2 million people watched it live on the internet.

Garnar, along with his family, visited the new giraffe and brought a bouquet of carrots and lettuce.

Garnar says events like this put Broome County on the map.

“Something amazing has happened this year  It literally got the world focused in on Broome County right here in Harpursville. We need to hear more positive stories about Broome County,” said Garnar.

Animal Adventure is taking on a number of construction improvements including a brand new welcome center.

The baby calf will be at Animal Adventure throughout the entire season, but will be moved to another location once the weaning process is complete, which is anywhere from 8 to 15 months.

The park is set to open on May 13.
