SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The massive crane to be used for the Carrier Dome roof project continues to grow and now stretches across Forestry Drive.
The road, which runs between SUNY ESF and the Carrier Dome, is likely to be closed for another couple days.
Crews are working on adding sections to the boom arm, which will be 580-feet long when it is finished being built in a couple more weeks.
The gigantic machine is stationed on the west side of the Carrier Dome and will be used to pick up the steel trusses to be placed at the top of the building to support the new roof.
The crane, one of the largest in the entire country, will likely be in place on the west side of The Dome until late January.
