TOWN OF HASTINGS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The head of Central New York Raceway Park is dispelling rumors he’s sold the still unfinished racing complex.
CNYRP President Glenn Donnelly tells NewsChannel 9 he has not sold and still is planning to finish the facility.
He does confirm that he is looking for a new investor to come on board, and may be close, but is not ready to announce anything more on that topic.
Donnelly’s team has already sunk about $10M into the project.
Work slammed to a halt a couple of years ago because of funding issues.
Donnelly told NewsChannel 9 at the time he couldn’t go any further because the project had only gotten $1M of the $8M in State funding they had been promised.
There is the basic outline of the 2.2-mile long road course and the bowl for what is intended to be the 5/8ths of mile synthetic dirt track.
About a year ago they received some infrastructure like part of the bleaches and other pieces for the grandstand.
