CNY group heads to Albany in support of driver’s licenses for all immigrants

Local News

A Syracuse-area group is planning to head to the state capitol Tuesday, supporting a campaign to give equal access to driver’s licenses for all immigrants, regardless of their immigration status.

The group says without licenses, immigrants cannot meet basic needs like going to the grocery store or taking family members to the hospital without risking arrest.

The “Green Light NY: Driving Together” campaign aims to pressure state legislators to support bills expanding access to licenses.

The group plans to march around the New York State Capitol at 12 p.m. Tuesday, before holding a rally inside EEG Sawyer in Albany at 1 p.m.
