A Central New York Uber driver was recognized by the ridesharing service for his effort in helping a woman from a domestic violence situation.

NewsChannel 9’s Julia LeBlanc first shared Dustin Czarny’s story last month when he picked up a woman — along with her two children, and boxes — as she was leaving an abusive relationship and turning to the Vera House for help.

Czarny says the company thanked him for going above and beyond by donating $500 to the Vera House in his name.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Vera House has a crisis support line ready to take your call any time at (315) 468-3260.
