Community concerns raised at “State of Education for Black and Brown students”

Coming together for the kids — parents, teachers, and members of the Syracuse City School District sparking a conversation at the State of Education for Black and Brown Students panel.

Community members expressed their concern for school drop-out rates and violence.

Teachers on the panel say students need to be held accountable for their actions, but the district also needs to be creating an environment to thrive.

Part of the solution includes a suggested mentoring program, which some see as a good start.
